The process of buying school supplies for yourself or your child can be an overwhelming one. Highlighters, pens, pencils, folders, art supplies, rulers, calculators... what do you need? Not only is figuring out what you need sometimes a difficult task, but the cost of the supplies may be even more difficult to deal with! Finding discount school supplies is an option you may want to consider.

One of the best times of the year to find discount school supplies is shortly before school starts. Stores that carry school supplies stock them in large quantities at this time of year, and usually offer great prices. Many of the necessary supplies, such as notebooks, folders, pens and pencils, can be purchased in large quantities (for example, 10-packs of notebooks), saving money. To save more money, avoid the fancy notebooks and folders with pictures or drawings on them, and stick with the ones with plain fronts, the savings will add up. Try to stock up on all the supplies you will need for the school year/semester while they are cheap.

If the school year gets going and you realize that you forgot some supplies, don't worry. You can still find discount school supplies throughout the year. Depending on what you need, dollar stores can be very helpful. These are stores that sell everything for $1. You may be able to find pens, pencils, markers, highlighters, poster board, and even rulers or simple calculators, as well as other supplies, at these stores. You can also check your local grocery store because sometimes school supplies are sold for lower prices than at places such as office supply stores.

If you are searching for discount school supplies such as books, it may be helpful to search online. There are websites that offer schoolbooks are huge discounts, and sometimes you can even sell the books back when you are done with them.
